This information on best practice discusses the evidence on the use of solutions, techniques and pressure in wound cleansing. The article has been reproduced with the permission of the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI). The article (JBI 2006a), which updates and supersedes the 2003 information sheet of the same name, has been derived from a systematic review conducted in 2004 (Fernandez et al 2004).
